Being Weird

I call myself weird a lot, but I don’t really think I’m that weird. It just makes me feel a little better if I call myself weird first rather than hearing it from another person. I guess that’s a little weird too. Anyways, I thought I’d blog about one of my newest experiments and that’s washing my face with honey. Raw honey, actually. I have oily skin, which I keep hearing is great since my skin will look younger as I get older. But I don’t like the greasy feeling that goes with it. So I read a post about washing with honey from one of my favorite bloggers, The Wellness Mama. I was pretty hesitant, but I love it! It’s been a week and I don’t have more pimples than usual and no new pimples have popped up. And I really like the way it makes my skin feeling moist after I’m done. Soap usually makes my skin feel a little dry or itchy.

I guess honey is anti-bacterial and has enzymes and probiotics that are healthy for skin. Sounds good to me. I just know that it feels better than any soap I’ve used. Plus, it only takes less than a teaspoon to wash and Costco sells local (kinda) raw honey, so it’s not super expensive. I’m going to keep trying it and I’ll post again on how it’s working out.

**Update 11/26/14: It’s almost a month later and I’ve been only washing my face with honey (except for yesterday when I accidentally washed my face with regular soap…I’m not so great as a scientist), and I still love it! My face feels more moisturized and I didn’t notice any more pimples; actually, I noticed less. And one that did pop up (around the time it usually does each month), went away in a day, which is very unusual. So, I’m going to keep using raw honey.
